My September plans (and a Costa Rica dream)

Reader,

September is going to look a little different around here.

I'm stepping away from my regular live teaching schedule for the month. After a very full summer, I want to make room for a few things on my calendar: hiking part of Vermont's Long Trail, celebrating my birthday, and flying out to San Francisco to see my older son.

I'm looking forward to changing things up a bit.

If you're a full Strong Women member, your live classes will be back on October 1st, and your Content Library access will be available in the meantime.

If you're a Content Library Member, nothing changes for you — you have over 600 classes to choose from, I just won't be adding new classes until October.

And if you've never joined but have been curious, October is worth marking on your calendar. That's when I'll open my next Jumpstart, the program that gets you into full membership with live classes and this community. More on that soon.

But I won't be completely unplugged this month.

I'm also spending part of September working on something I've been dreaming about for a while:

A Strong Women, Strong Bones retreat in Costa Rica.

And this one is open to everyone — member or not.

🌓 February 20–26, 2027
šŸ“ La Fortuna, Costa Rica

Picture a week of yoga, strength training, guided workshops on lifting mechanics and confidence, relaxation, good food, and time with other Strong Women. We'll be based near the Arenal Volcano at a rainforest eco-lodge, with hot springs, waterfalls, a farm tour, and plenty of personal time to simply enjoy being there.

Click here and take a peek at the Costa Rica retreat.

One quick note: the retreat hasn't officially been confirmed yet. We need a few more women to register to reach the minimum number of participants.

So if Costa Rica sounds like your kind of adventure, your registration can actually help make this retreat happen.

I'm pretty excited about this one.

Maybe September is a good reminder for all of us: a strong life isn't just about what we do for our bodies. It's also about making room for the life we want to live.

To your health - and enjoying every day,

Andrea Trombley PT, DPT

PS - I will be in touch during September; I just won't be teaching online. I have a Jumpstart to plan!

Reader, Have you ever caught a glimpse of yourself from the side and noticed a little rounding developing at the base of your neck? Maybe you brushed it off. Maybe it's been on your mind. Either way — I wrote something for you this week. My latest blog post tackles Dowager's Hump head-on: what it actually is, why it develops (it's not just about bone density), and what you can do about it starting today. A few things you'll find inside: Why posture and muscle strength matter alongside your...

Hi Reader, ✨ This might be the most enjoyable bone-health study I've come across in a long time — and I think you're going to like it too. Researchers in Norway recently looked at what happens when adults over 55 eat Jarlsberg cheese every day. Yes, cheese — as a bone health intervention. I'm here for it. Here's the quick science Most of you already know that building and maintaining bone requires key nutrients: • calcium • protein • vitamin K Jarlsberg is a naturally fermented cheese that...

Reader, I’m heading out to get in some mileage on the beach here in South Carolina today as I prepare for the Bataan Memorial Death March in a few weeks. I’m testing what socks, sneakers, shorts, and hats work best in sand and wind — but mostly, I’m just getting my body ready for the distance. No time goals, just steady miles. When I’m out walking or jogging, I often think about the simplest ways to share helpful exercises with you. Yesterday, I kept coming back to upper-body strength. Have...
