Two ways to make time for yourself this fall and winter

Hi Reader,

I've been dreaming about Costa Rica for a long time. How about you? Have you been? Or will this be new for you, too?

Strong Women, Strong Bones Costa Rica Retreat

📅 February 20–26, 2027

📍 La Fortuna, Costa Rica

Wake up to tropical birds (maybe use your Merlin app to identify some new birds), spend your mornings moving and strengthening in the rainforest, and wind down in the evenings with guided activities.

In between, there's time to nap, wander, soak in the scenery, and explore the waterfalls and hot springs near Arenal Volcano. You'll also have opportunities to build your strength-training and yoga skills while connecting with a group of women who share your interest in staying strong and active.

We need a few more registrations by October 22 to move forward with the retreat. If Costa Rica has been calling you, now is the time to take a look. And you don't need to be a current member to join us!

My next Strong Women, Strong Bones Jumpstart starts October 26!

For four weeks, we'll move together in live online classes: Weights & Core and Yoga-Inspired Movement. You'll also join me for four educational sessions to learn why we're doing what we're doing, so you can exercise for your bones with greater confidence.

Classes are 35 minutes, four days a week, and I'll be coaching you along the way. Every class is recorded, so you can catch up if life gets busy.

October 26–November 20

And if you know someone who would love either opportunity, please forward this email - I appreciate you! ❤️

See you soon,

Andrea

Hi Reader, If you've been diagnosed with osteopenia or osteoporosis, there's a good chance you've also heard the name alendronate, aka Fosamax. It's the most commonly prescribed bisphosphonate—and if your doctor has recommended it, you may have questions about how it works, what it's actually doing to your bones, and why you're taking it once a week. So let's talk about it. Alendronate: the basics Alendronate, brand name Fosamax, is an oral bisphosphonate that you take once a week....

Reader, I was recently invited to join a panel for Women Rising, an event happening here in Burlington next month. I'll be sharing the stage with two Nurse Practitioners I just met, and during our planning session, we quickly realized that the 45 minutes we have will be nowhere near enough time to say everything we'd like to say. So we're going to have to get laser-focused and skip the fluff. As I was talking with them, one message kept coming up for me: Know your bones. More specifically,...

Reader, September is flying by! This is my favorite time of year, and I've been making the most of it. I spent the first week on the Vermont Long Trail, headed to Canaan, Vermont, for Doe Camp this past weekend, and I've managed to spend more nights sleeping outside than inside so far this month. I'm actually headed back out onto the trail tomorrow, but before I go, I wanted to give you a little peek at what our week in Costa Rica could look like. I've been working on a tentative itinerary,...
