Your week in Costa Rica is taking shape 🌿

Reader,

September is flying by!

This is my favorite time of year, and I've been making the most of it. I spent the first week on the Vermont Long Trail, headed to Canaan, Vermont, for Doe Camp this past weekend, and I've managed to spend more nights sleeping outside than inside so far this month.

I'm actually headed back out onto the trail tomorrow, but before I go, I wanted to give you a little peek at what our week in Costa Rica could look like.

I've been working on a tentative itinerary, and I have to say, I'm getting even more excited about this retreat.

We'll have plenty of Strong Women, Strong Bones movement and learning, but we'll also have time to experience the incredible place we're visiting.

Here's a taste:

🌿 Yoga & Movement
We'll practice together throughout the week, including some morning and evening sessions, with plenty of opportunities to move, stretch, breathe, and work on the things that help us stay strong and active.

🌱 Explore the farm
We'll take a guided tour of the biodynamic farm and learn about regenerative agriculture and how Finca Luna Nueva grows food while supporting healthy soil and biodiversity.

πŸŒ‹ Arenal Volcano
We'll head out for an Arenal Volcano and Natural History Tour, with lunch included, then return to the lodge for some well-deserved free time.

🍫 Make chocolate!
Yes, this is actually on the itinerary. We'll learn about the history of cacao, roast and grind cacao beans, and make our own organic chocolates using ingredients grown on the farm.

πŸŒ‰ More adventure, if you want it
The Arenal Hanging Bridges excursion is optional and includes more than 3 km of rainforest trails and hanging bridges through the forest canopy.

We'll also have time for the pool, spa, walking the trails around the lodge, birding, relaxing, eating good food, and simply enjoying being somewhere beautiful.

And this brings me to a question I've already been asked:

"Are you going to be doing strenuous outings? I'm not sure I'm in shape for that."

Nope.

This is a gentle, relaxing, go-at-your-own-pace retreat.

There are optional activities, and you can decide what sounds fun to you and what doesn't. There is no expectation that you need to be in "tip-top shape" to come.

I want to meet you, move with you, help you with your yoga and weight-training form, answer your questions, explore Costa Rica with youβ€”and have a really good time together.

That's what this week is about.

Movement. Connection. Adventure.

And, of course, a little chocolate.

I've attached the tentative itinerary so you can see what we're dreaming up. Nothing is set in stone, and there will be plenty of opportunities to opt in or out depending on what you feel like doing that day.

So if you've ever thought,

"I would love to go on a retreat with Andrea and these women..."

This is your chance. Here is the PDF tentative itinerary. Finca Luna Nueva Tentative Itinerary Feb 2027.pdf

And I really mean it when I say that the women are the best part of this retreat.

We've spent so much time together online. Now we get to share meals, walk through the rainforest, practice yoga, learn together, laugh, and actually sit across the table from one another.

I would absolutely love to have you there.

In the meantime, think about joining me, explore the website, and I look forward to seeing you soon,

Andrea

PS - I have taken the month of September off from live classes, but I will be back in October, ready to start a new group of Strong Women Jumpstarters. If you have questions about what that is, I have all the details on my website: Strong Women, Strong Bones Jumpstart, see you in October!

Hiking

Reader, September is going to look a little different around here. I'm stepping away from my regular live teaching schedule for the month. After a very full summer, I want to make room for a few things on my calendar: hiking part of Vermont's Long Trail, celebrating my birthday, and flying out to San Francisco to see my older son. I'm looking forward to changing things up a bit. If you're a full Strong Women member, your live classes will be back on October 1st, and your Content Library...

Reader, Have you ever caught a glimpse of yourself from the side and noticed a little rounding developing at the base of your neck? Maybe you brushed it off. Maybe it's been on your mind. Either way β€” I wrote something for you this week. My latest blog post tackles Dowager's Hump head-on: what it actually is, why it develops (it's not just about bone density), and what you can do about it starting today. A few things you'll find inside: Why posture and muscle strength matter alongside your...

Hi Reader, ✨ This might be the most enjoyable bone-health study I've come across in a long time β€” and I think you're going to like it too. Researchers in Norway recently looked at what happens when adults over 55 eat Jarlsberg cheese every day. Yes, cheese β€” as a bone health intervention. I'm here for it. Here's the quick science Most of you already know that building and maintaining bone requires key nutrients: β€’ calcium β€’ protein β€’ vitamin K Jarlsberg is a naturally fermented cheese that...
